That is a sad moment when a truck fell on a thirteen-seater bus at Newtown on the Eleme-Bori-Port Harcourt axis of the East-West Road in Rivers state Nigeria, though the truck has been removed early hours of today

The sad incident happened on Friday due to the bad roads situation across not just the Niger Delta region but entire Nigeria as a country, as you can see from the situation, the Eleme-Onne Road in Rivers state is completely damaged

On the field, our correspondent who visited the scene gathered that the trailer and the commercial bus were removed at about 11 am on Monday and thankfully no life was lost in the accident. Our correspondent also reports that a logistics company is currently helping to remove fallen containers and other trucks stuck on the bad road as the number of falling trucks keep increasing

About The Protest To Fix The Road A Year Ago

Last year some groups of people took it upon themselves and protested against the negligence of the road by both the federal government and state government. The protest which has lasted for about 7 days before there were promised the Federal government that the road will be fixed in months, this is more than a year later and nothing has done so far

Yes is now over a year after some Stakeholders in Eleme and Ogoni communities occupied the Eleme-Onne axis of the East-West Road for seven days demanding that the road should be fixed

The protesters cost a blockage on the road for good seven days before the Federal government of Nigeria assured them that the Government will fix the road any time soon, their demand was heard, and the promise was made, the protestants were happy and left the road, then one year later nothing was done

That the bad section of the road to date has not been fixed. The bad road has crippled economic activities in the area. The federal government's failed promise to fix the road is part of the corruption from the government of Nigeria we are talking about. The road has however remained the same despite all the protest
