President Muhammadu BUHARI, has today the December 31, 2022, signed the 2022 appropriation bill into law at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Some of the persons present to witness the signing ceremony are the Senate Present, Dr Ahmad Lawan, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.
Recall, that the bill was increase from the N16.391tn to N17.126 and the president has said that, the N186.53 billion increase came from additional critical expenditures that he had authorised the minister of finance, budget and National Planning to forward to the National Assembly.
"The Minister will provide the public with the details of the budget as passed by the National Assembly, and signed into law by me,’’ he said.
The president also announced that 2023 budget, will be a transition budget and work will start in earnest to quickly begin the process to ensure early submission of the 2023-2025 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper as well as the 2023 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly.
The 2022 appropriation bill, was signed into law less than a week after the house of representatives and senate passed the appropriation bill.
