Peter Obi who hails from the Agulu community, one of the towns that make up Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra state is the Labour Party's presidential candidate for the 2023 Nigeria general election
The group, in a less than one-million man march rally organized in collaboration with the Peter Obi Movement for New Nigeria around the Agulu community, attracted both home and abroad sons and daughters of the community on Saturday.
They moved to the various, villages, roads, and streets in the community and ended at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Agulu campus where Obi’s campaign banner was unveiled.
While carrying banners with pro-Obi messages, they also dismissed the rumors that members of the community were not in support of Obi’s presidential bid, in their collective voice, We Are 100% In support of our son and together we are bringing this victory to all Nigerians comes 2023
Addressing the townsmen and supporters, the President-General of the community, Mr. Oliver Afamefuna, described Obi as a proud son of Agulu
We are proud to have a son like Peter Obi, he is a pride to not just the Agulu community but to humanity at larger, he is a man of humility, with integrity and capacity to turn around the country’s ugly trend, insisting that the entire community was in total support of him.
He said, “Nigeria as a nation has been saddened by the dangerous direction and thrown into divisions and crisis in recent times due to bad leadership, we believe our son Mr. Peter Obi is capable and will work for the good of the entire Nigeria masses
“We cannot afford to give up our nation despite the immense disappointments we have faced from other leaders over time, we must come together as one people irrespective of tribe, state, religion and support the Peter Obi presidency
We can't afford any division among us, and no longer leave our nation solely in the hands of our political job men who have shown freighting incapacity to move Nigeria forward and drive us to the precipice.
