No one can rise a healthy pet by chance. Raising a healthy dog, requires a lot of concious effort and attention. Proper grooming, exercise and proper diet is necessary when rising a dog. You have to pay proper attention to every part of your dogs body - ear, teeth, skin, etc.

Ensure that you exercise your dog regularly. Dogs and humans alike, need adequate exercise as a routine to keep fit and to maintain the needed weight. You can develop your dogs muscle by exercise. Regularly exercising your dog and feeding your dog with protein and fat will help it to keep fit and also develop it's muscles.

Feeding your dog fresh food maybe better (if your dog is not a picker eater) than dried food because fresh foods, give off sweet aroma or smell that draws the dog to the food. Before you feed anything to your dog, whether fresh or dried food, check for expiry date and ensure that you don't give it anything spoilt as it can negatively affect it's health.

Proper hygiene is inevitable. Bathing your dog regularly, is a healthy way to raise it. Note, bathing your dog regularly, is not the only way to maintain a proper hygiene for your dog. But, you must also ensure that the plates, cups, spoons and every utensil used by the dog is clean and germ free. Also ensure that your dog's pool ie, if it uses one, is keep clean at all times. Ensure to use doctor's recommended products for your dog.

Touch your dog's nose regularly. Irrespective of the time of the year, your dog's nose should not be dry. Although, the level of it's wetness, will vary depending on the time of the year but it should not be dry. Dogs, have wet noses because dogs, secrete sweat through their nose. If you notice that your dog's nose is dry, then is time you take your dog to the veteniary doctor.

Take your dog regularly to the doctor for proper check up. Avoid prescribing medication for your dog by yourself when your dog is sick or giving your dog treatment based on another dog's prescription. It is very dangerous.

Brush your dog's teeth regular. In the beginning, this activity maybe very difficult for you. But with time, your dog will become very relaxed with it and will not give you so much stress as in the beginning.

Research, has shown that Omega-3 fatty acid, is also good for your dog and not just for you alone. For younger dogs, Omega-3, helps them to develop a strong immune system and in mature dogs, it minimizes stiff and joint pain. Signs of Omega-3 deficiency in a dog include hair loss and muscle weakness, etc. Search for foods that are suitable for your dog that are packed with Omega-3 fatty acid and ensure you feed the dog based on it's nutritional requirement.

This post will not be complete if I do not remind you to always insure that you keep important documents and items far from your dog's reach. As much as we love them, we should bear in mind that they are animals and not human and as such, cannot differentiate important documents and items from unimportant ones.
