It is important for a woman to maintain proper hygiene at all times but maintaining a good personal hygiene during a woman's menstrual period is very important.

Sadly, many women do not know how to take care of themselves during their menstrual period. Some wear the same sanitary towel for 24hours.

Menstruation is a vital aspect of womanhood and poor vaginal hygiene during menstruation can lead to irritation and infections.

There are some practices that are risky and should be avoided during a woman's menstrual period.

Wash your V area carefully

Over washing your private part, can lead to yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. During your period, be careful how you wash yourself down there to avoid causing harm to yourself. Especially, if you are prone to such infections.

Choose your sanitary towel with care

There are several sanitary towels in the market which we can choice from but we must be careful to choose products that are approved by medical bodies. Avoid the temptation of choosing just any sanitary towel because it is cheap.

Change your sanitary towel regularly

Do not wear your sanitary towel for longer than 4hours and a maximum of 5hours. But it is more advisable to wear it for a maximum of 4hours. Changing your sanitary towel regularly, is key to fighting the growth of bacterias in your "V" area in other to prevent infections.

Avoid using vaginal hygiene products

Using vaginal hygiene products during your menstrual period is not the same as using them on your regularly days and it is very advisable to stay off vaginal hygiene products during your menstrual period because the "V" area have it's own cleaning mechanism during this period.

Dispose your sanitary towels or tampons properly

Ensure that you dispose your sanitary towels and tampons properly after use. Do not flush them to avoid them blocking the toilet. Wrap them properly before disposal.

Use your hands properly.

Before you change and after you change your sanitary wear, wash your hands to avoid the spread of infections.
