Here are Five Creative Persuasion Strategies To Sell Your Idea and Products To People

The power of persuasion is magical. It is a skill that can win the strongest opposition. The United States President, Lyndon Johnson once said, “The only real power available to the leader in the power of persuasion.” The ability to cause men to change their minds and do their bidding is the real power.

It is not enough to have an incredible idea. It is not even enough to have a good product or service. The most important of all is the ability to persuade people to accept your idea or buy your product.

Companies spend a lot of money a year advertising their products. Their aim alone is not to create awareness about the existence of their products in the market but also they subtly persuade buyers to prefer their products over their competition.

Politicians, use persuasion during elections to present themselves as a better candidate for a position rather than their opponent even though, they may never say that verbally.

With persuasion, even the worst idea will be bought. so right on this thread, I will give you five effective but simple persuasion strategies to apply in your day to day living and best apply in your business marketing strategies

1. Gain their attention
Gaining people's attention is not as easy as it seems even when what you are offering is beneficial to them.

You can gain their attention with pictures, testimonies, and statistics. You can begin by telling a story they can connect or relate to. For instance, if you want to get people to donate to a project for children in war-torn communities, showing them pictures of suffering and dying children and telling a story that will create a mental picture of war and suffering will get your audience's attention, as the photo footages caries a storyline they in question has easily related to, this will make them opt-in to your nodes

Note: In the world of today, so many people have what I choose to call Very Short Span Attention Disorder, VSSAD. You must carefully plan your strategy in other to get them hooked on your presentation till the end and to achieve this, you need some background information about them.

2. Needs
At this point, you have their attention. having what people needs attracts the rightful attention from the right audience you need, so when starting your persuasiveness, try to channel in a platform where those in need of what you have been hanging out with most

What are the needs of your audience? As a persuader, you need to know the needs of your audience and throw more light in that area.

Still using the example above, their needs could be to save helpless children or to stop the potentials of children from being dormant because of wars they didn't create or start. Now, you elucidate on how their involvement or donation will meet their needs of saving children's lives and potentials.

The needs of your audience are very important because it a motivating factor towards their actions.

Look for other angles you can approach their needs from also. This, if effectively used, will get their attention hooked on you.

3. Satisfaction
At this point, tell your audience how your product, idea, plan, or candidate will satisfy that need.

What will give your audience satisfaction in the case of the example above will be the number of children who will be saved by their donation. So, at this stage, explain to them how that will be achieved with their donation.

4. Visualization
At this point, you must intensify the need for your idea, product, or candidate by creating a vivid picture with words (or with real pictures as the case may be but mental pictures are powerful) in the mind of your audience on how it will feel or what it will be like, using your product, working with your idea or your candidate. Create a mental picture that will make them feel good about using your idea, product, or candidate.

5. Action
At this point, you call for action to be taken. Action is very important because it is the essence of every persuasion endeavor. While using these five strategies above, you must show passion and believe in your idea, product, or candidate. Your body language is very important. It is not something new, that the truth of verbal communication lies in nonverbal communication. Maintain eye contact and do not appear apprehensive.
