An Anambra Man Kills His Brother's Wife Over Property Ownership

It's shocking and sad news as an Anambra indigene, Mr. George Okoye, from Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the southeastern state of Nigeria killed his younger brother’s wife, over a protracted tussle on ownership of property.

The killer Mr. George Okoye allegedly led his wife and children into his brother, Mr. Emenike Okoye’s compound to beat him and his wife, Mrs. Nkiru Okoye, who died out of the beating.

While Mr. Emenike the husband to the diseased wife, who, however, survived sustained a broken hand, a fractured waist, and an injured eye from the severe beating, and is still recuperating in an undisclosed hospital.

The new sick man who spoke to journalists from his hospital bed narrated the incident that led to his 40-year-old wife’s death on 19th July with tears, saying he was only abandoned by his brother and the thugs they brought because they thought he had died, I still can't tell how I survived it, sadly my wife did not make it

Though the suspect, Mr. George Okoye has been arrested by the Anambra police force and is currently in police custody, the whereabouts of his wife, Mrs. Uzonna Okoye, twin daughters, and son, Somtochukwu Okoye who participated in the beating were still unknown as both people are still on the police wanted list

Mr. Emenike Okoye, narrating the sad story of his wife’s death said, “We did not do anything to my brother. I was preparing for work that very day, and my wife was preparing the children for school

And to also travel home for a meeting in Abba, Njikoka Local Government Area, where she is from when my brother George and his wife, Uzonna, and their son, Somtochukwu, and twin daughters invaded my house around 7 am

They overpowered us, beat us into a stupor, and left, later in the day when my children have gone to school, they returned, but this time around with some persons and dangerous weapons, including an axe.

“They dragged my wife outside the house, hit and killed her with axe and chair. She fell and died on that spot. When I resisted their move to drag me outside too, they broke my hand with an axe, dragged me outside; hitting me with the axe all over my body until I passed out, they thinking am dead, and left. Is so sad that my beloved wife did not make it

“You can see the cut on my eyes. They left me, thinking that I was also dead. But God helped me to wake up later. I reported the incident to our local vigilante and they drove me to hospital.”

The father of five begged for help, and also for justice against his elder brother, who he said has been at loggerheads with the family, over the property for several years.

“George right from when our mother (Mrs. Adaoba Okoye) was alive, said he is our landlord. He is not our firstborn, yet he claims ownership of the entire compound and always fights with all of us.

“I lived and worked overseas, but when the company where I was working folded, I returned home. We had our first three children overseas, and our last two here (Ogbunike).

“My wife has nothing to do with this. Why kill her for nothing? After we returned home trouble started, from one trouble single handled by my biological brother to another, the family was not at peace over property

Sadly same problem and unending crisis led to the death of our mother and our eldest brother. He reported us to the kindred, and our property was shared, with him taking the ''Lion Share'' that was not enough for him, the crisis continue.

I receive just a small property, which I accepted with good heart, I took mine without complaining, later, he started laying claims to my house, the that also belongs to him and he is our Landlord

“He reported me once again to our kindred but it was settled to my favor. He disagreed with the kinsmen, and our extended family members, and kept on troubling my family and me. When I laid the dwarf perimeter fence, he pulled it down, and even reported me to the kindred, I won him, he disagreed with the kindred again,” he lamented unfair for just a small portion of the property was given.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga, said he was aware of the incident, stating that an investigation on the matter had long commenced, and was still ongoing.

While we keep telling people, including those tussling for power that nothing is worth killing for, nothing and nothing is worth killing your fellow human for

Sadly, such happened in Anambra state, the eastern part of Nigeria, that one will ask? how can a man kill a member of his own family over properties?

And here you see it in the real sense, An Anambra man has killed his own brother's wife, It's just a matter of time, all man and living things will die and leave the world, nothing worth killing you follow human being for. Nothing
