Gunmen who are suspected to be terrorists attacked the convoy of Audu Madaki the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Zone 12 with Headquarters in Bauchi State and have killed one of his police guards, leaving the AIG injured in the process.
The attack which is said to have happened between Barde and Jagindi area of Bauchi at about 2.30pm on Tuesday, August 2, took place while the AIG was on his way to Abuja from Bauchi State.
A source at Zone 12 headquarters informed PUNCH newsmen that Madaki was shot at and injured during the attack while the police guard was shot dead.
As of the time of filing this report, the injured AIG is in an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment while security in and around the zone have been beefed up.
