The Catholic church, and Christian faith all over the world, mourn the death of former Pope Benedict XVI, whose death was announced a few hours ago, he died at the age of 95
Pope Benedict who was elected as the 265th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church on the 19th day of April 2005 at the Vatican City, was from German origin, named Joseph Ratzinger, but choose to go by the name Pope Benedict XVI on his elected post as the then New Pope of the Roman Catholic Church
Successfully Pope Benedict XVI later became the first ever pontiff in almost 600+ years to resign his position as Pope on 11th of February 2013 and died today Saturday, the last day of the year 2022 at the Age of 95 after a period of ill health, the Vatican press made the statement, announcing to the world that Pope Benedict XVI is dead
The statement from the Vatical press read '' With deep sorrow, I inform you that the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, passed away today at 9:34 31 December 2022 in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican, the Director of the Press Office of the Holy See, Matteo Bruni said and also signed the statement

During his reign, Pope Benedict was very outspoken and continued to speak up even after his retirement in 2013 triggering tension within the Catholic Church. Born Joseph Ratzinger in Germany in 1927, he was elected Pope in April 2005 after the Death of John Paul II
What many people don't know about the Pope, is the fact he was a son of a policeman, he was ordained as a priest in 1952, made cardinal in 1977, he later served as Chief theological adviser to Pope John Paul II.
That is 1981, he took over as head of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith, a key office in the Vatican that oversees the doctrine of faith and morals throughout the Catholic Church worldwide
He later challenged traditional teachings on issues such as homosexuality which he opposed completely and even called for women to be ordained priests.
