It's a sad day in the Niger Delta Rivers state southern part of Nigeria as parents are left hopelessly with tears after the deaths of their babies. More patients at the hospital told WorldForumLive that some surgical procedures have been suspended due to power outages and other irregularities as the Federal hospital

A medical officer at the hospital who spoke to News men on the conditions of anonymity said among the dead babies were the twin babies of a woman who had been looking for the fruit of the womb for more than seven years, both twin babies lost their life due to power outage and the woman has been placed on suicide watch following the death of her two babies

She said the woman gave birth last month but due to the premature nature of the delivery, they were put in an incubator, but sadly never make it, there were among the 17 Babies that dead

Another user by name, Sharon Edward Dougla, also share a post comment on how she lost her twin boys in the incubator, See her post below

What sad news, so sad that this is happening at a Federal Government founded University Teaching hospital in the capital of Rivers state. Port Harcourt. We lost those twins on (Wednesday) 27 June 2022. Because of a power failure at the hospital. More than 17 babies have died in the incubator so far in the past weeks she said.

Other patients told our correspondent that they were being referred to private hospitals by doctors due to the poor power supplies but have no choice but to leave the hospital

They added that their relatives use their phone lights to aid doctors and nurses who are taking care of the person he rushed to the Accident and Emergency Ward, that is how bad the situation in the hospital is at the moment. The thread has been ongoing on social media after one Facebook User by name Kosi Ebirim made the post online, see screenshot below

More people have started to come online to lament the sad state of the Hospital management as you can see below

This is happening in a failed country called Nigeria with zero medical care for the poor, the rich and those in power always fly to western countries for all their medical needs and attention while the poor masses are left with poor health care,

Also another person by name ''Oguagua Washington'' said, the thing keeps getting worse daily, asking who did Nigerians offend? Imagine a whole 17 babies who should be alive today died just like that because of human inefficiency, is sad May God has mercy, he said one taking his or her loved ones to UPTH at your peril, Point black

While the issue is not just with UPTH alone, many Nigerians have testified that poor healthcare is a Nationwide issue, the good health system is not available in the country and once things are not available in a country this is the result.

The doctors may not responsible for the power outages, and neither can we say the nurses are, If the federal government doesn't allocate what needs to be allocated to the health system across Nigeria and BEST fix the health sector which is vital to all Nigerians, then Nigerian masses will continue to suffer health related issues across the country
