Today, February 21, 2022 or the third Monday of February, is a federal holiday here in the United States. Washington's Birthday is one of eleven federal holidays recognized nationwide by the United States Government.
All non-essential federal government offices are closed on Washington's Birthday, and all federal employees are paid even if they receive the day off.
Many private-sector employees will also receive paid time off or special holiday pay on Washington's Birthday.
Officially, Washington’s Birthday, but colloquially known as President’s Day, is a celebration of the first president of the United States. It is celebrated every third Monday of February, and has been a federal holiday since 1879.
