Today Nigeria is celebrating her 62nd independence day, sadly the majority of Nigerians don't want to associate themselves with such a celebration, to them the Nigeria government has failed them, so the giant of Africa Nigeria is a failed state

What most Nigeria is celebrating is Happy new months and many took to social media to warn others never to send or wish them happy Independence Day

Historically on this day 1st of October, Nigeria got her Independence from European influence that colonize and rule them from the 16th century when the first explorers from Spain and Portugal arrived in the west African country. And start exploiting, looting, and traded with locals which on other hand brought the establishment of Nigeria's first ports in Lagos west Africa part of Nigeria

Later British came and take over and became an increasingly dominant influence on the region, this came in the late 19th century when the Royal Niger Company resisted German attempts to expand their territory in the Africa Nigeria region

Then proceed to early in 1900, the territories under the control of the Royal Niger Company became the Southern Nigeria Protectorate. In 1914, this was combined with the Northern Nigeria Protectorate, bringing both the southern and northern regions together and what later create the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria, which forms the borders of modern-day Nigeria.

It was in those years that many aspects of modern life in Nigeria were established under the period of British Rule, but by the middle of the 20th century, towards the late 1950s

Most African countries have started calling for freedom, the call for independence sweeping across Africa, and the decline of the territories in the British Empire led to Nigeria being granted independence on October 1st, 1960 under a constitution with a parliamentary government and a degree of autonomy for the country's three regions.

Pro to that Nigeria later marked total independence from Britain when it became a federal republic when a new constitution was adopted on 1 October 1963 with Nnamdi Azikiwe as its first president. Not lasting long, political unrest led to a series of military coups in 1966 and 1967 Nigeria went into her first civil war after the southeastern part of Nigeria breakaway and formed the Republic of Biafra

The Nigeria Biafra war lasted for three years and ended in 1970 with the Military government in power and was ruled by a military junta with the democratic rule not being restored until October 1st, 1979.

Is been over 62 years since Nigeria get her first Independence, Sadly the majority of Nigerians are not happy, they call Nigeria a failed state and choose to distance themselves from celebrating of failure

While few people in Government are happy, celebrating and saying It's Nigeria's 62nd Independence Day anniversary today! In Abuja, the Nigeria capital. Military men are parading but the celebration is highly on a low key with the masses not happy, the celebration is focusing on "Unity in Diversity", which celebrates the many different cultures that makeup Nigeria.

With over 200+ ethnic groups in all part of Nigeria, Nigeria is truly a melting pot of traditions and customs. From the Hausa people in the north to the Yoruba and Igbo in the south, While each tribe and group has its unique history and culture. On this special day 1st October, Worldforumlive is also wishing Nigeria A Happy independence day celebration
