The federal government of Nigeria (FG) spent over N57.8 billion on the procurement of rice for distribution to senatorial districts and federal constituencies by senators and House of Representatives members across the 36 states in Nigeria, including Abuja the capital city. With zero nothing getting to the ordinary Nigeria masses
This happened during the 2023 Christmas/End of Year Palliative Programme when thousands of hundreds of trailer loads of rice worth N100 million were expected to be distributed by each of the 360 representatives.
Each of the 109 senators was expected to distribute rice worth N200 million as palliative to the people they represent in their various state constituency. However, some of the legislators are yet to receive the delivery of the rice palliatives, while many that have received them are yet to distribute such Items to the good people they represent
Few legislators who have distributed the items inadvertently opened the floodgates of criticisms against those yet to distribute. Last year, the federal government also gave over N2 billion to each of the 36 governors for palliatives in their respective states with zero nothing getting to the masses while some party loyalists get more bulks of these palliative gifting
