Hey, Google has announced they are set to delete all inactive emails from December 2023, yes all inactive Gmails, here is what you need to know and what action you should take
If you have not used your Gmail account for the past two years, such an email account is considered by Google owners of Gmail as inactive email and will be deleted by December this year
The set date for the deletion of inactive emails is December 2023. Google has given all users the privilege to confirm they are still using their email by logging in to their mail account from now until the fall of November this year. Just login into your Gmail account, and confirm you are still using the account to avoid email account deletion

So if your email was used for your school administration, academic registration, or any important registration, kindly login into your email to keep the said email active. There are some exceptions to this policy. Examples include a Google Account with YouTube channels, videos, or comments; an account that has a gift card with a monetary balance; or an account that has a published application, for example, one that hosts an app on the Google Play store. Our priority is to make it as easy as possible for you to keep your account active if you want to, and we’ll ensure you have adequate notice before any account is impacted by this change.

The simplest way to keep a Google Account active is to sign in to the account at least once every two years. If you have signed in to your Google Account recently in the past two years, your account is considered active and will not be deleted.Other ways to keep your account active include:
- Reading or sending an email
- Using Google Drive
- Watching a YouTube video
- Sharing a photo
- Downloading an app
- Using Google Search
- Using Sign in with Google to sign in to a third-party app like social media platforms or service
There are some exceptions to this policy.
