Facebook And Instagram Now Charges Users For Blue Badge Verification (Mark Zuckerberg)
Just after Twitter roll out its paid subscription for Blue Badge, Meta owners of Facebook and Instagram followed suit as Meta now charges its users and business pages $11.99 / month on the web or $14.99 / month on iOS respectively for blue badge verification.

Good morning and new product announcement: this week we're starting to roll out Meta Verified -- a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support.
This new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across our services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on the web or $14.99 / month on iOS. We'll be rolling out in Australia and New Zealand this week and more countries soon.

Why will understand that this is an important feature for the social media giant as it will enable Facebook support to carry out their work effectively, we agree that effective support is a big part of the value to both the platform and its users
Also, as said by Meta, once you've verified your account with a government ID both Facebook and Instagram can more effectively find and remove any imposter accounts using your name or business brand since they already know that your verified account is the real you.
