JUST IN: Elon Musk Launches xAI to Rival ChatGPT OpenAI, this is coming a few days after Mark Zuckerberg launched a new social media application called Threads to rival Twitter

So Elon Musk also yesterday being Wednesday 12th July 2023 launches his artificial intelligence model called xAI to rival both ChatGPT OpenAI and Google Bard. It will interest you to know that this project xAI has been in progress for quite some time and yesterday Elon decided to release it into the market and posted a Tweet informing the general public. See Tweet screenshot below

Before now Elon Musk who was formerly part of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, a program he later accuses of being politically biased and irresponsible. But now launches his own AI model to seek competition with OpenAI ChatGPT

You can take a look at the xAI website by typing x.ai into your browser to take a look at what the website says. On how it plans to use its model to study and understand the Universe better, helps humanity to understand the true nature of the universe. Which Elon and his team said is the goal of the X AI

It will interest you to know that, the Tesla tycoon would run the company separately from his other companies but the technology developed would benefit those businesses, including Twitter.

Musk on Twitter added that the new company aimed to "understand reality" and answer life's biggest questions. The startup is staffed by former researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Tesla, and the University of Toronto. The team is to be advised by Dan Hendricks, who currently leads the Center for AI Safety, a San Francisco-based organization that warns against developing AI too quickly. Hendricks also initiated an open letter to global leaders in June that warned AI was a risk to human existence on par with pandemics and nuclear war.

Elon Musk has repeatedly warned about the dangers of AI, quoting how AI is going to crush humanity, having called it "our biggest existential threat," and saying that moving too fast was like "summoning the demon." You can find some of that tweet live from Elon Musk Tweet timeline

He also claimed to have cofounded OpenAI in 2015 because he regarded the dash by Google to make advances in artificial intelligence as reckless. As things were not going so well with them, he has no choice but to leave OpenAI, which He eventually left in 2018 to focus on Tesla and later said he was also uncomfortable with the profit-driven direction the company was taking under the stewardship of the CEO Sam Altman.

Elon also argues that OpenAI's large language models -- on which ChatGPT depends for content, as is the case with other AI programs -- are overly politically correct. So in April this year, Musk shared details of his plans for a new AI tool called "TruthGPT" in an interview with Fox News, the conservative broadcaster

In the interview, he said his new AI company would come very late after OpenAI and Google DeepMind, both of which have made great strides in recent years. "I think I will create a third option, although it's starting very late in the game. Can it be done? I don't know, we'll see," he said.

And now is the reality, the launch of an AI company on the scale to rival OpenAI or Google DeepMind must have come at an enormous expense, especially regarding the necessary semiconductors, known as GPUs, which are mainly built by California company Nvidia. Sign Up to World Socio to keep learning
