Highland Park Police Commander Chris O’Neill, said, the incident commander on the scene, urged people to shelter in place as authorities search for the suspect, described as a white male wearing a white or blue T-shirt.
Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman ''Christopher Covelli'' said at a news conference that the gunman opened fire on parade-goers from a rooftop using a rifle that was recovered at the scene. He didn’t know which building the fire came from at the time of writing this report. Covelli'' said police believe there was only one shooter and warned that he should still be considered armed and dangerous.
Police are yet to released any details about the dead victims or wounded people
The parade had begun around 10 a.m. today being the 4th of July but was suddenly halted about 10 minutes later after shots were fired forcing hundreds of parade-goers — some visibly bloodied — to flee the parade grand route, leaving behind chairs, baby strollers, plush toys, bicycles, and blankets, people left all that just to free for their life

While a quiet number of media houses have stormed the scene closely monitoring the situation in Highland Park, the State police are also on-ground monitoring the scene, said the government has made all state resources available to the community and has promised that their will continue working with local officials to help those affected get the best support from the government

It saddens our heart to see, hears, and watch daily how people use guns to kill their fellow humans, that one will ask, what type of heart do this person killing their follow humans have, are they humans like every one of us. This is heartbreaking and unbelievable, yet happening daily around us, even in the United States, with all these killings in America, it's still shocking
How do these people going about killing their fellow humans, even begin to plan all these evil acts..... that one will go to a crowded place and open fire on innocent people, or to a church, or school and kill innocent school children
How do all these killing here and there gives them joy, and at what gain? that you will wake up one day, pick a gun and go out the open fire on innocent people killing both young and old
Some of them that were killed are less than 10 years old. How does that help the killer? Does that bring you more joy, more friends, more love, more trips, more money, more happiness, more satisfaction, more recognition, more pride, more connections, more beautiful or handsome?
Yes, some reports and people say those killing innocent people with guns are mentally ill, but if they are mentally ill, how then do they know where to purchase a gun or how to make a bomb and know exactly where and when to strike.
I believe just saying that this person cannot stand trial because they are mentally ill is not the right conclusion. You are mentally ill to stand trial but you are alert enough to get into a school, or a park with a loaded gun and kill people? I don't know, maybe I need to read about all these killings, and shootings of innocent people across the United States, indeed it was supposed to be the 4th of July happy independence day to all of America not until this dad news came and spoil the celebration
